Wonder if we suboptimize excellent management by getting too much into the doing, rather than focusing on delegating, equipping, empowering, directing, monitoring, leading?

1) Negative results and unexpected events - measurement of sentinel events and near misses, such as surgical incision infection, hospital acquired pneumonia. 2) Subjective assessment - what is the patient or caregiver opinion of care. 3) Objective assessment - examples- lab values, increased activities of daily living, readmission rates. 4) Placement at termination of care - The transisition of care to the most appropriate level safe for the patient. i.e. home, home with home health, rehab, hospice, LTACH. This is a measure of the level of patient functionality. Griffith: pg. 134
