Recruitment questions (2)
Posted by: Michael McAvoy on April 29, 2009 at 10:37PM EST

1.  What are some general "Time to Fill" metrics , in number of days it takes to fill a vacancy?  Say for RNs, pharmacists etc.  Are there some national benchmarks or averages that are job specific?

2.  What is the common commission paid to an executive search firm for a successful recruitment of an upper level leader?  Is it a fixed fee?  If yes, what is that range these days?  A percent of one's salary?

#2 It depends in what type of contract you have. You can retain a recruitment agency, you can commission or you can put it up for grabs, like say in the ladders.com. On a commision basis it is a % of salary and then usually a bonus if the selected candidate stays longer than X amount of months or years..

If you as a professional are looking for, a recruiter I do not know how that market works.

i understand your concepts, I was actually asking for specific numbers and detals - i.e if a recruitment firm finds a successful candidate, do they genrally get 25% , 30% or what?

I have seen ranges of percentages from 20-35% of their first year annual salary. Generally, half is paid at time the offer is accepted and half is paid when they start.
