The reading said you cannot ask about memberships in organizations during an interview.  What about if they were listed in the candidates' resume?

I feel that if they disclose this information to you on their resume or application, they have now made it open to discussion. This is of course a non-qualified opinion as I am not an attorney. I would ask if it was relevant.

When I have interviewed people I have been given specifics about what to not ask. On the other hand, if someone brings up information (like how does the organization deal with child care) I was told that this then becomes fair game to discuss.
