Do any of your organizations have a pay for performance type of evaluation system? If so, do you find it effective? What are the advantages or disadvantages of this system?

In a previous organization I had a 65 base /35incentives payment based on results given and mesured quaterly. For sure it creates dedication and competition to achive the results set by the strategic goals, but it also impacts job security since you could not control some of the factors that would influence your pay next quarter !

I believe that offering incentives such as pay could be helpful in some ways but in the healthcare setting I would like to believe that staff want to achieve organizational goals to better better benefit the patients they serve. Money will always be a motivatin factor but other incentives could be pursued before the financial incentives are put in place.
