Another question, but on Human Resources
Posted by: Shari Welch on October 2, 2009 at 10:13AM EST

In the Week 2 Human Resources Study questions, question 1 asks:  Which of the following is a mandatory bargaining topic?

a) Benefits for retried employees

b) performance bonds

c) Preferential hiring of union members

d) job descriptions

In the answer it says that benefits for retired employees is a voluntary bargaining topic.  However in slide 36, Part 2 of the Human Resources Section it lists retirement benefits as a mandatory bargaining topic

Can any of you HR experts clarify this for me?

Thanks,

Shari Welch

Hi Shari:
"The benefit of retired employees is a voluntary bargaining topic and retirement benefits as a mandatory bargaining topic"

The benefit of retired employees is a benefit for employee no longer in the service of the organization, while retirement benefits is part of the benefits for present and future employees of the company.

Shari, I also doubt answers on handful of study questions. If you look at the first page of any of the study questions, it says they were submitted by members like you and me. I just think there are a few mistakes- go with the slides because you can trust the source.
