Board termination
Posted by: Timothy Neville on April 21, 2008 at 12:39PM EST

Hi:

Do trustees usually have contracts? If not, in the event of the need to terminate a trustee before the end of his/her term (i.e undisclosed COI), is this handled by an executive board vote?

It is my understanding that since trustees do not have contracts, then the executive board would vote to remove a trustee for an undisclosed COI.

I agree, my hospital bylaws are structured to allow the Executive Committee to handle a COI situation.

The Exec Committee meets to vote on it, then takes their opinion to the full board.
