In reading the material from Southwick's The Law of Healthcare Administration, the Model Non Profit Corporation Act was mentioned but not explained in detail...does anyone have a detail description of this act?

The S-Ox applies to for profit organizations but is used as a guideline by not for profit organizations, as I understand.

It is safe to say that the BOD has the 30,000 foot view of running the organization - approving the budget for the new carpets. The two foot view still belongs to the CEO - like actually getting the best deal and purchasing the carpet.

When talking about this Act, the PowerPoint mentioned "Not-for-Profit" organizations.  Does this Act apply to "for-profit" organizations as well? 
Board Education

Providing appropriate board education is essential to developing a high functioning board. The education we would like to provide to our board members consists not only of an education on health care and our organization, but also in governance best practices. While my organization firmly believes that this type board education is important and necessary, we almost always run into difficulty in finding the appropriate time and means to deliver the education.

 

What does your organization do to ensure that the board receives regular and appropriate education? What delivery methods have worked best?
